How is my pet housed while in your care?

While at Wags either waiting to be groomed or waiting to be picked up we house our clients in kennels in a temperature controlled environment with soft padding to make their wait as comfortable and stress free as possible. We do this both to keep your pet safe and to avoid distracting other clients while they are being bathed or styled.

What are your grooming hours?

Wags styles and baths 6-days-a-week.

For your convenience we groom 6 days a week with appointments as early as 6 a.m. Monday-Friday. Our last availability is 3 p.m.

No. Wags Boutique retail hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
We are closed on Sundays to allow everyone more time with their pets!

When should I bring my puppy in for a first groom?

We suggest you bring your companion in for a first groom at about 3-4 months to condition the your new family member to the experience. The first puppy bath is $30 if they are under five months old and includes our professionals checking ears, clipping nails and around the paw pads. We will also trim around the eyes and do a sanitary trim if needed. Also they must have completed their second round of puppy shots before visiting us. Please bring certification of vaccinations for our records.

Do you have special services for senior dogs?

Senior dogs are a speciality at Wags. They require easy access to bathing areas, soft nonslip grooming table and shampoos designed to replenish essential skin oils. Our new North Shore exclusive senior grooming tub provides easy access and comfortable bathing designed to minimize stress for older and physically challenged four-legged family members. Our grooming tables are hydraulically operated again for easy access by older clients. We study the dog’s vision and to hearing to avoid a startling reflex when we begin clipping. We examine for skin issues and gently massage older dogs who more often than not have arthritic conditions. And most importantly we listen to your concerns before beginning our shampoo and styling.

How long does it take to have my dog styled and manicured?

Generally a dog is ready to be picked up within 3-4 hours. But we will contact you about 15 minutes by phone or text when your companion is ready to return home.

Can I just bring my dog in for just a bath?

Yes. A bath includes a shampoo wash, a nail trim, and both ears and teeth cleaned. This process with our trained groomer technician takes about 1-2 hours and when your pet is ready to be picked up we will call you.

How often should I have my dog styled?

This is a very personal decision. Some owners bring their pet in weekly, others every few weeks and still others after a month or more. It is best not to let the coat get too long or matted and the nails too long. We recommend bathing and styling every 6-8 weeks.

Do you also style cats?

Yes. We prefer to groom cats either at the beginning of the work day or at the end of the day to reduce the chances they will be distracted by dogs.

Do your stylists and bathers accept tips?

Yes. Clients generally do tip if they are happy with the service they receive just as they would tip at the beauty salon, after a manicure or a haircut.

Do you provide daycare?

No, but we have a list of nearby day-care facilities as recommended by our clients that can be found under Community at the bottom of our website.

What businesses are conveniently located near your new facility?

Glad you asked. We are really convenient to merchants and services you already visit regularly. Our immediate neighbors include: U Dawg U, SHRED 415, Hofherr Meat Co., Tapas Gitana is in the same mall. Mariano’s on Willow is just around the corner and right across the street are Lori’s Shoes, Happ Inn, Three Tarts Bakery, and the Becker Veterinary office.

We are just a two blocks north and around the corner from the Northshore Senior Center. If you are spending a morning or afternoon there why not drop off your companion for a bath and haircut while you attend a class, a lecture or meet for your card or Mah Jong game.

Just a few blocks north of the new Wags are several car dealers so if you are thinking about an oil change or having your brakes replaced at a Fields dealership, Northbrook Toyota or Autohaus on Edens, why not drop your dog off first?
